Aldous Harding – Mess & Noise review

‘The opening track on Aldous Harding’s debut LP is called ‘Stop Your Tears’. It could just as easily be called ‘Stop Whatever It is That You’re Doing’. Once Harding’s voice arrives, 30 seconds in, it’s hard to remain in the digital age’s constant state of semi-distraction. The best adjective for her singing would be ‘arresting’; her songbird’s warble – etched with the turn of the season, throaty with pain, yet ruffled with a twirl of theatricality – the kind that stops hearts, stops men in their tracks, stops chatty crowds silent’.
