Emma Russack & Lachlan Denton’s newest collaborative project, ‘The First Two Albums’ is out now via Spunk. Comprising of the duo’s independent releases from earlier this year,‘The First Two Albums’ is an impressive 20-track release that showcases a masterful melding of each of artists’ (and vocalists’) signature sounds and songwriting.
Recounting the birth of the project, Russack recalls: “In March of this year, I was moving house. I don’t own a car and I didn’t have enough money to hire a truck so I asked Lachlan if I could borrow his van for the day. To my surprise, he said he would just help me do it and so we arranged a day. Friends have the tendency to flake on these kinds of offers, but Lachlan didn’t. He showed up at my house, on time and ready for action. We moved my entire house in 3 hours. The move also proved to be a great bonding experience. We talked about our lives and our fears and our plans – we seemed to be heading down a similar path. Over a well-deserved beer at the end of the day, Lachlan just said “You wanna make an album together?”. I said, “Yes”. Two albums down and the rest is history.”
