Flowertruck first new music in 2 years!!!

Sydney’s FLOWERTRUCK return today with ‘Sing Along To Your Life‘, the band’s first new music following a two-year hiatus. The song beams with all of the energy and brightness that FLOWERTRUCK has become known for, tempered by the ups, downs and plateaus of new life experiences as the band grows into their next chapter. It is a reflection on the forces that transform youth into maturity, grief into peace and time into music.
The single is the first track taken from a new album by FLOWERTRUCK, slated for release in early 2021 via Spunk Records. It is also the first recording to feature the band’s new guitarist David Gauci (Gauci, Hatchie). Gauci joins singer Charles Rushforth, keyboardist Sarah Sykes and drummer Will Blackburn to complete FLOWERTRUCK’s line-up in 2020 and beyond.
‘Sing Along to Your Life’ was written in a caravan park in Broken Hill where Rushforthwas employed as a repairman. Throughout the song, he imagines the delicate spaces where we decipher (sometimes painfully) to understand our world and our place in it.
“Months of alarms waking you up, around your life like bars,” sings Rushforth in the opening verse, playfully imagining the monotony of work as measures on a page of sheet music.
The song was recorded as part of a session helmed by long-time friend and collaborator Bowen Shakallis in a make-shift home studio in Stanwell Park, built by local photographer / videographer Sam Brumby. It was mixed and mastered by John Lee, (Gregor, Laura Jean).
FLOWERTRUCK released their debut album Mostly Sunny in 2018 to critical praise from the likes of The Sydney Morning Herald, The Needle Drop and more.
Stay tuned for more details on the band’s forthcoming sophomore album.
